Cover of The People United: A Memoir of Hope and Resistance During Trump's First Term

Hope, Resistance, and the Power of Building Community

In my memoir, I take the reader through the tumultuous, fast-paced launch of Indivisible Montgomery and the broader anti-Trump resistance in 2016 to the inauguration of Joe Biden and the end of my tenure leading the group in 2021. From anticipated defeats to unexpected victories, I weave the high-profile events of the first Trump administration with the unrelenting grind of the behind-the-scenes work necessary to build and maintain a volunteer organization.

I led Indivisible Montgomery with a positivity that was grounded in practicality and resilience. In this memoir, I deliver a message of hope and continued resistance to the authoritarian forces working to subvert American democracy because, as we saw during Trump’s first term, the people united will never be defeated.
